North American mustangs are the most famous wild horses in the world. Now a symbol of freedom, they are descendants of the first horses that the Spanish brought to America. Their name itself comes from the Spanish word ‘Mesteño’, meaning an animal without a known owner… Indigenous tribes in North America adopted them because of their unique characteristics: undomesticated, robust, resistant to illness and adapted to periods of drought. This documentary explores and celebrates this one of a kind species in their various homes across the globe.
